Am I good enough?

Updated: Jul 19, 2018

Are you a singer, actor, dancer, musician? Whatever it is you love to do, do you find yourself questioning your skill? Someone very close to me said something that's really resonated with me and I have never looked back since. They said "It’s not about being the best, it’s about what you have to offer". This is so true.

I decided to ask everyone I spoke to who their favourite singers were and I started to realise everyone had completely different opinions, some of which I did not agree with and others I did. Some people thought Adele was the best, other’s thought Ellie Goulding was the best. Someone said they though Bruno Mars was “Ok” even though I think he’s one of the best singers ever. Everyone looks for different things! Some people think good singing is being able to to deliver beautiful and clear riffs like Jessie J, other’s think its delivery powerful and buttery tones such as Adele, some people like a more unique voice with a real alternative vibe like Lorde, Ellie Goulding or soulful like Joss Stone.

At the end of the day you have got what you have got. I will never waste my life wondering if something thinks I'm good enough. I get booked a lot from live videos and I am writing my music from the heart. That’s all that matters really at the end of it all! I will never again question myself based on another musicians opinion or whatever, I also have my own opinion about other peoples playing as well, it doesn't mean I am right, it's just what I class as good playing etc. Don't ever let anyone make you believe you can't do it, go for it, work for it, and don't let anyone get in your way to success. It is ok to not be liked by everyone, it means you are different. It's part of being an artist in whatever form you have chosen. No one does you, better than you. Live the life you want without doubting yourself.
